Toddlers are children from one year of age to three years with different developmental boundaries which continually break down as they grow each day.
Preschoolers are a little above the toddler in the sense that they now walk better, understand things better and also speak better than toddlers.
School age means they are in the stage where they can now be left alone for a while with little surveillance in hope that they make the decision best for themselves without hurting themselves and others at play.

Indoor games for ‘toddlers, preschoolers & school age’ children
Listed and discussed below are games children can engage with at home to further help them grow intellectually.
• Water plays
Let them play with objects in water. While playing and splashing water happily, their visionary skill is also put in use as they sense objects, analyze and pick them up either to throw or rub in their hands. They can fill bottles continuously and the brain tells them to continue since it can take more and more until it is filled without anyone telling them they should do that.
• Throwing of objects
Throwing and catching of balls to toddlers is super fun as they giggle hard when they catch or even when they lose but it ignites their competitive spirit because they try to think about ways they will catch them more instead of losing especially when they see that you catch it perfectly.
These also help them get over social shyness, when they eventually starts schooling, they will not have a hard time mingling with others when they are brought together to plan games.

• Sand plays
This is common for toddlers and preschoolers even though some school ages still partake in the fun. Under the guidance of their parents and teachers, they mold many things with sands and in this process, their constructive mind begins to function more.
They try to create new and exciting things as their brains and minds direct them. Although, what they mold sometimes may likely not make any sense but, they are happy they did something on their own accord. Some kids begin to mold sensible objects over time like vehicles, houses, spoons and other objects just like they have seen and drawn in books.
• Touch and name games (Identification)
Bring out and hang a chart consisting of words, letters and images then tell them to touch and in turn tell you or others what they see. You can also bring out objects, blindfold them and tell them to touch it, feel every part and give you a correct answer. Their brains will be forced to use every details their hands provide while touching the object to get the correct answer.
When they do this, their thinking ability and sensory organs are heightened and sharpened so they can have proper sense of feeling and this game will linger in their mind for a long time so it can help them quickly remember the shape, style or appearance of an object, animal or image when needed.
• Song challenges
Let them memorize poems and songs while clapping, dancing and jumping to it. It will surely be fun on their end but this is in turn sharpening their memorizing skills.
They will be quick to pick up lyrics, melodies and tones if they continually practice the song so when this method is infused into learning like giving a tone or melody to the alphabets, they will never forget the alphabet when they are required to read or write it because they can easily sing it out.
They can also learn examples of words starting with alphabets as they sing it as song daily or most times.
It even helps with memorizing two, three or four letter words when this method is introduced so in one way or the other, their memorizing and remembrance skill is sharpened.
• Building blocks
Give them various blocks with different color and tell them to build a house or create any image using them. They will be forced to think about how to fix them up.
When a child continually try to force a square into a triangular hole and it’s not working, the child will likely try out another block till he sees the right fit.
Children also gets to relax and have some fun while trying to look for the right block which will help the child in decision making. Other thing they also learn how to separate colors overtime and even if need be, they will learn how to make them complement one another as they try to build an object so that it will be more artistic and attractive.
Although all these games seem fun and educational, they also require close supervision of parents and if in school teachers to be available to guide them so that they won’t become frustrated along the way and lose interest.
If this happens, it might affect the educational growth which is the original target of why the games are introduced. Kids lose concentration easily, take note!
I am sure building excellent child is top priority, the list of indoor game children can engage to learn and grow meaningfully with is endless, therefore the few ones mentioned above is likely to help you see reason to therefore help build the tomorrow leaders starting from home: learning should be fun!.
